Local Businesses Support "Warm Up Oswego" Festival
OSWEGO- - Winter may be coming but it is no time to hibernate! Local businesses and agencies are stepping up to make the 3rd Annual Warm Up Oswego Festival bigger and better than ever. The City of Oswego and the Oswego YMCA are the major organizers of this event.
It starts with the design and printing of the flyers and posters donated by Step One Creative and Oswego Printing.
Sponsoring spectacular fireworks at 6:00 p.m. on the Oswego River behind Canal Commons are Auburn Telestar, Constellation, Oswego County Federal Credit Union, Fidelis Care New York, C’s Farm Market, Novelis, Entergy, and the Oswego DailyNews.
Other sponsors supporting this sizzling event include: Margaret Mulcahey, Pathfinder Bank, Computer Accounting Services, Oswego Speedway, Ontario Winds, Burke’s Home Center, Oswego Sub Shop, Steve Chirello Advertising and Time & Again Books and Tea.
The entire community will enjoy a variety of musical groups, entertainment and fireworks! You won’t want to miss a minute of the fun and excitement! You can catch all the entertainment from noon until midnight at a variety of Oswego venues. Activities include the Hot Scavenger Hunt starting at the Oswego YMCA Armory. Visit each participating Oswego store and restaurant to complete a winning entry for prizes and a $200 cash grand prize. Tour Oswego’s attractive downtown shops and get a Warm Up festival necklace at each shop.
Entertainers being featured throughout the day at the Oswego Armory, along with a variety of food and craft vendors, include: Larry Rapshaw, Dennis Cotter, Shirley Woodcock Kolp, John Bletch & the Predators. Catch some hot moves with the Omega Stepz Breakdancers at 4:15. The SUNY Oswego Theatre Department will provide songs and dances throughout the day from the production of "Cabaret".
The Port City Theatre will sing some hot romantic tunes from "I Do! I Do!" in the afternoon.
There will be a Crazy Costume Human Sled Race with a category for teens 12-17 winners get five tickets for Lighthouse Lanes Cosmic Bowling. The adult winning team gets 5 tickets to the Oswego Speedway Classic Weekend.
Other events include a Hot 2K Trot Fun Run/Walk, Foul Shooting Contest, and a Treasure Hunt in the Snow for kids under 12. The Oswego Figure Skating Club presents the Port City Invitational Skating Tournament at Crisafulli Rink at Fort Ontario February 1-3. Spectacular fireworks by Auburn Telstar will light up the Oswego River at 6:00 p.m. between Bridge Street and Utica, behind Canal Commons.
After the fireworks, Oswego continues the heat with a choice of events: The Oswego Music Hall presents Kate Lee and No Strings Attached at the McCrobie Building at 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. This year’s "Warm Up Oswego" Fiesta is to be held at G.S. Steamers from 6:00 p.m. until Midnight. Pre-sale tickets are available at G.S. Steamers, the Oswego Y.M.C.A, C’s Farms, or from Warm Up committee members for $10.00 a person. Join the Conga Line as Warm Up Oswego celebrates Caribbean style, just a sneak peak of what the Port City has to offer before Harborfest kicks off this year’s festival to a Caribbean beat of its own.
